Hey there, curious soul! I’m Camilo, a bioinformatician passionate about exploring the microbial world through computational approaches. My current research focuses on the human microbiome (the weird and neglected viral part) and how their genes are associated with various human factors. At the same time, I’m also involved in developing bioinformatics tools and pipelines for analyzing viral genomes.
I hold a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biology from Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia. Before joining the BCEM, I worked as a research assistant at the same university, where I developed bioinformatics tools for analyzing viral genomes and studied the diversity of bacteriophages in different environments.
When I’m not immersed in code or data, you can find me exploring new places, trying out new recipes, or indulging in my love for music and photography. I’m always eager to connect with fellow researchers and enthusiasts in the field of bioinformatics and microbiology, so feel free to reach out!
